HOLLYWOOD — Nancy Kanter has been upped to senior VP of original programming at Disney Channel.
Kanter will assume responsibility for all interstitial content for Playhouse Disney, cabler’s preschooler division, in addition to overseeing series development and production.
She will continue to report to Gary Marsh, Disney Channel’s executive veep of programming and production.
Promotion comes after the recent ratings growth of Playhouse Disney’s “JoJo’s Circus.” In the third quarter of 2004, series ranked No. 1 among girls 2-5 in its programming block while boosting overall viewership among kids 2-5 by 18%. Mouse House has plans to market the series as a full-blown franchise.
Veteran children’s programmer joined cabler as VP of original programming in February 2001. Before, that she served as prexy of Bluecow.com and was an exec producer for Sesame Workshop.
