Vet comedian Don Rickles has landed a key role in ABC’s J.J. Abrams action pilot “The Catch,” while Kyra Groves has booked a gig in the VH1 pilot “5 Non Blondes,” a U.S. remake of BBC hidden camera show “3 Non Blondes.”
Rickles will play the boss in “The Catch,” opposite Greg Grunberg and Orlando Jones.
Project revolves around a pair of bounty hunters. Pilot is under consideration for a midseason pickup.
It would mark Rickles’ first regular series role since the early ’90s Fox laffer “Daddy Dearest.” Thesp has guested more recently on series such as “The Bernie Mac Show.”
Rickles will next be seen in the TNT telepic “The Wool Cap.”
Meanwhile, “5 Non Blondes” will lense this month in Los Angeles. Groves, a member of a sketch comedy group, is one of five femmes to be cast.
Groves has held guest stints on such skeins as “Wanda At Large” and “Everybody Loves Raymond.” Pilot will be produced and directed by Gary Reich, who created the Brit show as well.
