Spesh bests every primetime net entertainment program

There’s no slowing down Dick Clark or his annual New Year’s Eve bash on ABC, which this time around drew its third-largest audience ever.

National ratings for the opening hour of latenight coverage from last Wednesday’s (11:35 p.m.-12:32 a.m.) show “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” averaging 20.83 million viewers and big demo ratings of 7.5/27 in adults 18-49 and 8.7/28 in adults 25-54, according to in-home viewing estimates by Nielsen.

In all key ratings categories, “Rockin’ Eve,” co-hosted by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, bested the rating of every primetime network entertainment program for the week of Dec. 29-Jan. 4.

Show’s overall aud was up 8% from last year (19.31 million).

Fox’s competing program, “America’s Party,” averaged 3.7 million viewers and a 1.8/7 in adults 18-49 from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. “American Idol’s” Ryan Seacrest hosted the show for a second straight year.
