TORONTO — Canada’s broadcast regulator has given the go-ahead for Toronto-based CHUM Limited’s purchase of Calgary-based Craig Media Inc., for C$265 million ($222 million.)

The deal, which has been awaiting the greenlight since it was inked in April, closes Dec. 1.

Formerly Canada’s largest privately-held media company, Craig Media owns five terrestrial TV channels in Western and Central Canada and three digital specialty channels.
