Calkins tapped prexy of Lieberfarb & Associates

Exec to oversee company's biz operations

Warren Lieberfarb has tapped John Calkins as prexy of his consulting firm, Lieberfarb & Associates.

Calkins, most recently senior VP of corporate biz development and strategy at Warner Bros., will oversee the company’s day-to-day business operations.

Lieberfarb & Associates opened in 2003 to provide senior counsel to media and technology companies regarding the creation, development, marketing and distribution of traditional and new forms of entertainment. The firm’s clients include an array of consumer electronics and IT heavyweights, including Microsoft, Toshiba and Best Buy.

While at Warner Bros., Calkins was involved in the studio’s entry into technology-driven applications such as wireless distribution, multiplayer videogaming and video-on-demand. He was instrumental in the creation of Movielink, the five-studio joint venture to distribute theatrically released motion pictures over the Internet.

“John’s decision to join us is a very significant step in the growth of our business,” said Lieberfarb. “He possesses the rare combination of a deep understanding of the entertainment business and, also, of the role technology has played and will increasingly play in the future of media.”
