Bunim-Murray Prods. is reorganizing its exec structure, with Jon Murray taking on the role of prexy/chairman and Joey Carson tapped to serve as CEO of the reality factory.
As part of the changes, Carson — who had been chief operating officer of the company since 2001 — will now serve as co-exec producer on all BMP skeins. He’ll also work to help move the company of “The Real World” and “The Simple Life” into the scripted arena, while taking on more responsibility for the management of the company.
Murray, meanwhile, will now have more time to focus on the creative process.
Exec shuffle follows the death earlier this year of co-founder Mary-Ellis Bunim. Murray has officially decided not to change the company’s name.
Murray said the 18-year-old BMP has “grown tremendously in the three years since Joey joined the company as COO.” Before Carson came to BMP, exec oversaw production for 20th Television.
BMP’s current slate includes the unscripted syndie sudser “Starting Over,” “The Rebel Billionaire,” “Road Rules” and the upcoming “The Scholar.”
