AFI salutes creatives

Artists, not winners or losers, feted at event

Clint Eastwood and Nicole Kidman were among the creative folks saluted at the AFI Awards 2003 on Thursday at the Four Seasons. As at last year’s inaugural luncheon, the mood was upbeat and informal, with no acceptance speeches, no TV cameras and, since the winners were announced Dec. 15, no anxiety or suspense. About 250 creatives repping the 10 films and 10 TV shows honored were gathering “not as winners or losers but as artists,” said AFI honcho Jean Picker Firstenberg.
