Madonna, Britney to sing in Cannes

Awards ceremony kicks off Midem

PARIS — Madonna, Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Dido and Seal will perform at the NRJ Music Awards, France’s answer to the Grammys, on Saturday in Cannes.

Event kicks off the Midem trade fair, the international music industry’s annual gathering on the Riviera.

The awards, to be broadcast live on Gallic web TF1 and radio station NRJ, are based on a public vote with about 50 songbirds competing for 15 awards. Among artists competing are Robbie Williams, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake.
