Tribeca theater taps six

Fest facilitates meetings between scribes, industry reps

The Tribeca Theater Festival announced six plays selected to be read in the fest’s Tribeca All Access Open Stage program for playwrights of color Oct. 25-26.

The plays are “Ascension” by Cynthia Robinson; “Cowboy vs. Samurai” by Michael Golamco; “The Escape Artist’s Children” by Steve Harper; “Magnificent Waste” by Caridad Svich; “Sissy” by Ricardo A. Bracho; and “You Dead Yet?” by Akin Salawu.

Fest, which runs Oct. 19-31, will facilitate meetings between the scribes and industry reps. It also will pair honorable mention recipients Marcus Gardley and Christina M. Ham with playwriting mentors.

Kenny Leon will direct the Oct. 25 readings while Michael Greif will direct the plays skedded for Oct. 26. Readings are by invitation only.
