Tony Awards, CBS sign 6-year b’cast deal

Kirshner, Glenn Weiss/White Cherry to exec produce

The Tony Awards signed a six-year agreement with CBS, giving the network the right to televise three-hour award broadcasts through 2010.

Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss/White Cherry Entertainment are the new executive producers of the 2004 Tony Awards. Weiss will serve as director of the broadcast, his fourth year. Kirshner has worked on 11 of the past 12 Tony Awards, having previously served as associate producer, executive in charge of production and producer.

Gary Smith had previously been executive producer of the Tony Awards.

The 58th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from the stage of Radio City Music Hall on June 6.

The eligibility cut-off date for the 2003-04 Broadway season is May 5. Nominations for the 2004 Tony Awards will be announced May 10.
