Perez to play Pooty in Brokaw-directed prod'n

Rosie Perez joins Mary-Louise Parker and Debra Monk in the upcoming Broadway revival of Craig Lucas’ “Reckless.”

Perez plays the paraplegic Pooty, who is thought to be mute until events prove otherwise. Parker essayed the role in the 1995 film version, which headlined Mia Farrow as Rachel, the happy housewife whose blissful existence is punctured when her husband hires a hitman to kill her.

Parker takes the Rachel role in the Broadway production, which is a co-production between Manhattan Theater Club and Second Stage. It opens Oct. 14 at the Biltmore Theater. Mark Brokaw directs.

Perez made her Broadway debut in 2003 in the revival of Terrence McNally’s “Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune.”
