‘Producers’ hits $1.4 mil

NEW YORK — Broadway grosses dropped 2.9% to $15,195,049 during Week 45 (March 29-April 4), but that figure was still a record for the time frame. Attendance went down 3.2% to 232,751.

The downturn came despite three new shows on the boards: “Bombay Dreams” ($562,994), “A Raisin in the Sun” ($324,919) and “Assassins” ($281,856).

Three shows felt six-figure plunges: “Fiddler on the Roof” (down $156,217 to $663,285), “42nd Street” (down $126,005 to $569,384) and “The Phantom of the Opera” (down $105,303 to $555,043).

But other shows managed slight upticks, including “Wicked” (up $30,825 to $1,101,014, its highest non-holiday take to date) and “The Producers,” which went up $46,619 for a whopping $1,412,170 in Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick’s final week.

“The Boy From Oz” played no performances as star Hugh Jackman took the week off.

The 21 musicals grossed $13,183,618 for 86.8% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 195,251 at 79.5% of capacity.

The nine plays grossed $2,011,431 for 13.2% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 37,500 at 61.3% of capacity.

Average ticket prices were $67.52 for musicals, $53.64 for plays, and $65.28 for all shows.
