Andrew Lloyd Webber has set a date for the Broadway bow of “Woman in White.” The musical, now playing on London’s West End, will open Nov. 10, 2005, in Gotham.
It’s a quick transatlantic turnaround for the tuner, based on Wilkie Collins’ Victorian thriller about two sisters who become involved in a sinister plot. “Woman in White” had its world preem Sept. 15 at London’s Palace Theater. Producers there are Sonia Friedman Prods. and the Really Useful Theater Co.
They will be joined for the Broadway production by Bob Boyett, Boyett Ostar Prods. and the Nederlander Organization, which will probably provide the theater. No Broadway venue has been announced for the project, but it is expected to go into the Minskoff Theater.
“The Woman in White” has music by Webber, lyrics by David Zippel and book by Charlotte Jones. Director is Trevor Nunn. The design team in London and New York is William Dudley (production and video design), Paul Pyant (lighting design) and Mick Potter (sound design).
Casting has not been announced.
