Broadway’s upcoming Mamet festival continues to take shape.
Liev Schreiber is the latest to commit. He’ll play Ricky Roma in the spring 2005 revival of “Glengarry Glen Ross.” Joe Mantegna essayed the role in the 1984 Broadway premiere; Al Pacino played Roma in the 1992 film.
The Joe Mantello-helmed production of David Mamet’s salesmen drama had been announced for fall 2004 but has been pushed back to a late April preem, said producer Jeffrey Richards.
As for the rest of the cast, Alan Alda and Frederick Weller are in talks to take the roles of Shelley Levene and John Williamson, respectively.
Other Mamet revivals for the 2004-05 Broadway season include “American Buffalo,” which opens in late March and stars Laurence Fishburne under the direction of Daniel Sullivan. “Speed the Plow” now is planned for spring 2005.
