NEW YORK — Broadway continued its spring slump during Week 49 (April 26-May 2), as grosses fell 8.3% to $14,535,856 with attendance down 9.2% to 226,137.

“Thoroughly Modern Millie” (down $125,509 to $389,497) and “Movin’ Out” (down $118,719 to $559,640) took big plunges. Revivals such as “42nd Street” (down $120,587 to $527,132), “Little Shop of Horrors” (down $118,349 to $277,035) and “Fiddler on the Roof” (down $106,752 to $596,197) also suffered.

The biggest rises came from “A Raisin in the Sun” (up $48,238 to $441,627), “Jumpers” (up $88,732 to $328,305) and “Assassins” (up $25,533 to $331,022).

The 22 musicals grossed $12,513,305 for 86.1% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 189,135 at 75.3% of capacity.

The nine plays grossed $2,022,551 for 13.9% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 37,002 at 59.1% of capacity.

Average ticket prices were $66.16 for musicals, $54.66 for plays, and $64.28 for all shows.
