MEXICO CITY — Audiences eager to see helmer Alfonso Arau’s upcoming Emiliano Zapata biopic will have to wait a bit longer.
“Zapata: El Sueno del Heroe” (Zapata: the Hero’s Dream) has been moved back from February to April because of post-production and marketing issues, according to distributor Videocine.
“It’s a film that needs a lot of attention, and for that reason we prefer to do everything with calm,” Videocine head Eckehardt Von Damm said.
It’s the second time the bow has been rescheduled, and as a result, the film will not appear in the Guadalajara Showcase of Mexican Film, the country’s top fest, in March. Instead, producers say they hope to get it into Cannes and Venice and vie for the 2005 Oscars.
Pic largely stars popular musicians, including singer Vicente Fernandez’s son Alejandro in the title role.
