ThinkFilm has boarded director Clement Virgo’s “Lie With Me,” picking up North American distribution and retaining all international rights. Sexually charged drama started shooting Wednesday in Toronto.
Adapted by Virgo and author Tamara Faith Berger from the latter’s erotic novel of the same name, film centers on two young people who try to avoid the entrapment of middle-class relationships through purely casual sexual encounters but are confronted with the possibility of love when they unexpectedly connect.
Damon D’Oliveira and Virgo will produce through their Conquering Lion Pictures. ThinkFilm will release “Lie With Me” in 2005.
Eric Balfour, who has appeared on “The OC” and “Six Feet Under” and is featured in upcoming “Get Shorty” sequel “Be Cool,” stars with Lauren Lee Smith, whose credits include “The L Word.” Cast includes Polly Shannon, Kate Lynch, Kristin Lehman and Don Francks.
In addition to directing episodes of “The Wire,” “The L Word” and “Soul Food,” Virgo helmed features “Love Come Down” and “Rude.”
