Oscarcast vets return

Composer Conti back for his 17th Academy Awards

It’s Oscar time again and kudos vets are returning for duty.

Back for more Oscar glory is production designer Roy Christopher, who’s set for his 16th Academy Awards gig. His previous work has garnered him 15 Emmy nominations and six Emmy wins. Christopher was awarded the Art Directors Guild’s lifetime achievement award this year.

Providing the orchestral soundtrack (and the ever-so-popular “wrap it up” cues) for the night’s proceedings will be Oscar-winning composer Bill Conti, back for his 17th Academy Awards. Conti stepped onto Oscar’s stage in 1983 to accept the original score prize for “The Right Stuff.” His work in the orchestra pit has earned him 15 Emmy noms and six Emmy awards.

The 77th Governors Ball will be co-hosted this year by first VP of the Academy Sid Ganis and Cheryl Boone Isaacs. It will be held on the top level of the Hollywood & Highland complex immediately following the awards ceremony. Hosting gig is the eighth for Ganis, with Boone Isaacs joining him for the second consecutive year.
