Local pix get boost

World Brief

Brazil’s government, distrib Grupo Novo de Cinema e TV and private companies are kicking in $100,000 to screen locally made pics in Argentina, Chile, Peru and Mexico between Thursday and Oct. 8.

The 14 pics include Carlos Diegues’ “God Is Brazilian” and Jorge Furtado’s “The Man Who Copied.”

Few Brazilian films gain distribution in other Latin American countries. The exchange of pics between Brazil and Argentina is increasing thanks to incentives for film distribution introduced last year.
