BAM to fete Murray with series

Ex- SNLer to attend, participate in Q&A session

Capping a season of critical kudos and awards heat for his role in Sofia Coppola’s “Lost in Translation,” Bill Murray will be honored with a retrospective series examining the evolution of his film career this spring at the BAM Cinematek.

Running April 5-May 4 and titled “What About Bill Murray?” the season recaps the actor’s roles in popular comedies such as Harold Ramis’ “Caddyshack” and “Groundhog Day” and Ivan Reitman’s “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters” alongside his work for such idiosyncratic directors as Tim Burton (“Ed Wood”), Wes Anderson (“Rushmore”) and Michael Almereyda (“Hamlet”).

Also included is Murray’s stint behind the camera as director on 1990’s “Quick Change.”

Currently in Rome to complete shooting on his third collaboration with Anderson, “The Life Aquatic,” Murray has agreed to participate in the BAM tribute with an audience Q&A to follow the screening of a film still to be determined.
