World seizes ‘Day’ rights

Spanish thriller currently in pre-prod'n

American World Pictures has acquired worldwide distribution rights to Christopher Lambert pic “Day of Wrath.”

The Spanish period thriller, being produced by Sam Slayman, is currently in pre-production. Story concerns the sheriff of a 16th century city who discovers a series of brutal murders of high-ranking nobles and must choose between his own sense of good and a need to protect his own children when he becomes tied to the events.

Josh Askland, James Faulkner, Blanca Marsillach and Eszter Onodi will star in pic alongside Lambert. Adrian Rudomin directs. Slayman will serve as pro-ducer along with Ashley Sidaway and Kornel Sipos. Exec producers are Lester, Robert Sidaway, Jose Miguel Juarez and Rudomin.

Company has also acquired worldwide distrib rights to “School of Life.” Helmed by William Dear, pic is about a competition between an uptight middle school teacher and a young, new teacher for the teacher of the year award. Ryan Reynolds and David Paymer star. Roseanne Millikin served as producer.
