Thrush opens ‘Door’ to more features

Singer signs for Tobin adaptation

Britney Spears is ready to make a serious commitment to feature films.

As Spears circles a screen version of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and the Tim Allen comedy “In the Pink,” the songstress has made a deal to produce and star in “Door to Door,” an adaptation of a novel by Tobi Tobin being acquired by New Regency. Spears will produce, with manager Larry Rudolph.

Published by MTV Books, “Door to Door” is a roman a clef about an ambitious teenage beauty who leaves Michigan to become an actress in Los Angeles. She dates a movie star, who helps her get a job working the door at the hottest club in L.A. — and suddenly doors open for her.

Project was packaged by ICM, and New Regency topper Sanford Panitch is making the acquisition.

Spears made her screen starring debut in “Crossroads.” She’s touring for her latest album, “In the Zone.”
