SYDNEY — Richard Roxburgh (“Van Helsing”) and British teenager Tom Sturridge (“Being Julia,” “Vanity Fair”) have joined the cast of “Like Minds,” a psychological thriller starring Toni Collette, which starts shooting today in Adelaide, South Australia.
The feature writing and directing debut of docu and commercials helmer Gregory Read, pic features Collette as a forensic psychologist who must decide if there’s enough evidence to find a that psychopathic 17-year-old (Eddie Redmayne) killed a fellow pupil (Sturridge). Roxburgh plays a detective.
Becker Films Intl. has worldwide sales rights to the film excluding the U.K. (where Redbus is the distrib) and Australia/New Zealand (Becker Film Group).
BFI prexy Reiko Bradley closed some deals, including with Scandinavia’s Svensk, at the American Film Market.
An Australian/U.K. co-production, “Like Minds” is bankrolled by the Film Finance Corp. Australia, South Australian Film Corp., Screen Yorkshire, U.K. fund Microfusion and Becker Films Intl.
Producers are Jonathan Shteinman of Bluewater Pictures and Piers Tempest of Gunpowder Films.
