George Tillman Jr. is in talks to direct “Six Shooters” for producer Laurence Mark at Columbia.
Action adventure pic is based on a spec script by John Enbom. Story takes place in the waning days of the Civil War, when Confederate prexy Jefferson Davis loaded the entire gold reserves of the South aboard trains during the siege of Richmond to keep them from falling into the wrong hands. A couple of Union soldiers are bent on making off with the gold.
The film will be produced by Mark, Dan Etheridge, Jason Bloom and Jonathan King. Rachel O’Connor is overseeing for Col.
Tillman produced last year’s MGM hit “Barbershop 2” as well as the studio’s “Beauty Shop,” starring Queen Latifah, which rolls out next year. He recently wrapped the roller skating comedy “Roll Bounce,” which he produced for Fox Searchlight.
Guy Ritchie was originally set to direct “Six Shooters” but opted for action-drama “Revolver,” starring Ray Liotta and Jason Statham. “Revolver,” which began lensing last month, is produced by Luc Besson and Marty Katz.
