Brian De Palma’s “The Black Dahlia” will be the first pic from Signature Millennium, Moshe Diamant and Avi Lerner’s new label, which will finance produce pics budgeted north of $40 million.
Upcoming SM titles include Peter Hyams’ “Hurricane Chaser” and the action comedy “BOHICA.”
Written by Eric Small, the f/x-heavy “Hurricane Chaser” follows a bank heist that takes place in Key Largo during a hurricane.
According to Diamant, “BOHICA” stands for “Bend Over, Here It Comes Again.” Henry Hwang wrote the script.
“This is a way for us to join forces and get into mainstream Hollywood movies,” Diamant told Daily Variety. He said he and Lerner will share responsibility for selling rights.
“Black Dahlia,” which stars Scarlett Johansson, will go into production in March. It shoots on location in Los Angeles as well as on soundstages in Bulgaria.
Hyams previously teamed with Diamant on the upcoming Warner Bros. Pictures release “A Sound of Thunder” and “The Musketeer,” which was released through Universal Pictures.
