Sci-fi scribe gives Cinematheque donation

Short Take

Science-fiction legend Forrest J. Ackerman made a $153,000 donation to the American Cinematheque to install seat plaques at the Egyptian Theater which will honor 153 people. Those selected by Ackerman include family members, friends, authors, sci-fi literary editors, artists and entertainers in the worlds of film, magic and music.

Amount marks the single largest donation to name seats that the Cinematheque has received to date. Ackerman will be honored by friends and colleagues at a special Cinematheque tribute set for Feb. 11 which will include a screening of “Dead of Night.”
