“Romeo Must Die” scribe Eric Bernt will make his feature directing bow with “Vegas Baby,” produced by Insomnia Entertainment.
Insomnia, backed by Station Casinos’ Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta as well as Golden Nugget owners Tim Poster and Tom Breitling, will finance the production.
Kal Penn (“Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle”) and Jonathan Bennett (“Mean Girls”) will star in the road-trip tale of five pals who travel to Vegas for a bachelor party. Comic Kathy Griffin and Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”) make cameos.
Insomnia principal Trent Othick will produce the film, which will be shot in and around Insomnia’s partner properties in the Las Vegas area.
Bernt’s previous writing credits include “Virtuosity” and “Surviving the Game.”
Othick served as executive producer of Fox Networks’ reality show “The Casino.” He also produced the upcoming Insomnia feature “Standing Still,” starring Mena Suvari, James Van Der Beek and Colin Hanks.
He also is producing Insomnia’s poker comedy movie, which will be directed by Zak Penn and is slated to go into production early next year.
