A network of producers has launched a film financial services company, the Sandpit media agency.

Based out of Rome, with Paolo Palomba as its president, Sandpit will offer a swath of film financing services, such as how to tap the escalating amount of local and regional governmental funds now available for film production, Palomba said Tuesday.

“Specific regions or towns are increasingly conscious of the benefits of international shoots happening on their doorstep, not only in terms of global promotion but also in triggering finance for their regions,” Palomba said.

It will advise film commissions, offer technical support for festivals and provide marketing strategies and investment analysis.

Sandpit’s advisory board includes Donald K. Ranvaud for Latin America, the West Coast-based Chris Hanley, Martin Katz for Canada, Ron Rotholz for the East Coast and Tito Seiffert in Germany.

Other members are South Africa’s David Wicht, Spain’s Marina Fuentes, Piers Tempest in London, Peter Locke for East Europe and Philip Lee in China.
