COLOGNE — “The Edukators,” shown in competition at Cannes, snatched awards for director Hans Weingartner and male actor Stipe Erceg at the Munich Film Fest, which ended Saturday.
Weingartner and Erceg received newcomer kudos Foerderpreis Deutscher Film, donated by Bavaria Film, pubcaster BR and bank Hypovereinsbank. Foerderpreis’ jury, which included helmer Hans-Christian Schmid, also chose female actor Marie-Luise Schramm for “Bin ich sexy?” (“Am I Sexy?”).
Although Germany’s second largest film fest does not have a prize race competition program, it serves as a platform for various awards donated by institutions and broadcasters.
Munich-based BR also presented the audience award, to Marco Kreuzpaintner for “Sommersturm”. The audience award for kids pics, presented by channel Fox Kids, went to Guenter Meyer’s “The Dagger of Batu Khan.”
Vintage helmers honoured this year were Alan Parker and Volker Schloendorff.
