Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films and Randall Emmett and George Furla’s Emmett/Furla Films have re-upped their production and financing arrangement for seven more pictures, with budgets on each ranging between $25 million and $45 million.
The companies most recently teamed on “The Tenants,” which stars Snoop Dogg and Dylan McDermott. Just wrapped, the title was the final production shot inside Los Angeles’ Ambassador Hotel. Pic is an adaptation of the 1971 Bernard Malamud novel, with a screenplay by David Diamond (“The Family Man”).
Danny Green makes his feature directing bow on the pic. Producers are Emmett and Holly Wiersma, with Lerner as executive producer.
Millennium and Emmett/Furla have been producing together for five years, with Lerner’s NuImage repping foreign rights. The relationship has expanded to include larger-budget projects that Emmett/Furla can cash-flow and/or fully fund, in addition to covering development costs.
Upcoming titles under the deal include “’88 Minutes” directed by James Foley, Bruce Beresford’s “The Contract” and David Burke’s “Edison,” starring Morgan Freeman, Justin Timberlake, LL Cool J and Kevin Spacey.
