“Shrek” scribe Joe Stillman has been hired by Fox 2000 Pictures to adapt “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief,” based on the children’s book of the same name by Rick Riordan.
Moppet fave centers on the demigod offspring of Poseidon, a 12-year-old boy who sets out on a quest in present-day America to rescue his mother, return Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and prevent a civil war from erupting among the gods.

Stillman cut his teeth as a TV writer on Mike Judge’s MTV skein, “Beavis and Butt-head,” going on to pen the feature “Beavis and Butt-head Do America” and serving as a writer on Judge’s long-running Fox skein, “King of the Hill.”
Most recently, CAA-repped Stillman penned “Curious George” for Universal and co-wrote DreamWorks’ sequel to the boffo 2001 animated hit “Shrek,” based on William Steig’s book.
