Los Angeles indie distributor and producer Porchlight Entertainment has entered into a three-picture distrib deal with Montreal-based Galafilm.
“As we move forward, we will be discussing expanding our association with Galafilm into joint development, co-production and other distribution efforts,” said Porchlight chief operating officer William Baumann.
Under the agreement, spearheaded by Porchlight head of acquisitions Zac Reeder, the company will have distribution rights to Galafilm’s award-winning feature “The Blue Butterfly,” the recently completed telepic “Tripping the Wire” and made-for “The Louise Arbour Story,” which has just begun principal photography.
“The Blue Butterfly,” directed by Lea Pool and starring William Hurt, is the highest-grossing English-language domestic film in Canada so far this year. It concerns a 10-year-old boy terminally ill with brain cancer.
