Fox climbs into the ‘Box’

Meyers to helm pic about four lovely thieves

Twentieth Century Fox isn’t thinking outside the box — it’s breaking into it.

Studio has picked up the feature spec “Breaking the Box” from tyro scribe Dan Cutler in a low six-figure deal. It has also attached musicvid helmer Dave Meyers to direct the pic.

“Box” evokes elements of both “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Charlie’s Angels” by centering on four lovely thieves whose elaborate getaways and alibis are facilitated by their day jobs as flight attendants.

“Box” is being produced by Fox-based producer Ralph Winter (“X2,” “Fantastic Four”) and manager-producer Oren Koules of Evolution. Alex Young will oversee development for Fox.

“It’s not that I was obsessed with doing a heist film,” said Cutler, “but the idea seemed a good jumping off point for doing a roller-coaster thriller with a lot of comedy.”

Meyers has made a name for himself directing videos for top recording acts like Ludacris, Pink and Korn; he’s also attached to the DreamWorks Pictures project “Topsiders.”
