The Artivist Film Festival will honor Ed Begley Jr., Tippi Hedren, Mike Farrell and France Nuyen with the first Artivist Awards at ceremonies April 27 at Hollywood’s Egyptian Theater.
Fest, which runs April 22-28, is intended to create a coalition of filmmakers, artists and activists with the intention of serving as a vehicle to raise funds and awareness for this year’s key issues: children’s advocacy, international human rights, animal rights and environmental preservation.
Award recipients were all chosen for their contributions to those issues: Begley for environmental preservation, Hedren for animal rights, Farrell for human rights and Nuyen for children’s advocacy.
The centerpiece films of the festival, “Born Into Brothels,” “Juvies,” “Urban Elephant” and “Super Size Me,” all deal with the key issues.
Funds raised by the event will go to Artivist’s designated charities.
