PARIS — French mutihyphenate Claude Lelouch will be jury prexy at the Deauville Festival of American Cinema, which will also include a 24-title retrospective of work by Steven Spielberg, who is expected to attend.
The 30th edition of the Normandy event, running Sept 3-12, will screen the 10-episode Spielberg-produced “Band of Brothers” to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Allied landings that liberated France.
Indie producer Christine Vachon will receive a tribute. Vachon’s credits include Deauville’s 2001 Grand Prize-winning “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and a fruitful collaboration with Todd Haynes, most recently with “Far From Heaven.”
Following its successful launch last year, the documentary sidebar “Les docs de l’Oncle Sam” will be back.
Glenn Close, Malcom McDowell, Gena Rowlands, Matt Damon and Pierce Brosnan are expected at the event.
Competition titles will be revealed Aug. 19.
