HOLLYWOOD — Forget G.I. Joe — meet Geriatric Joe.
Fox-based Davis Entertainment has bought a pitch from scribes Joe Gayton and Cade Courtley called “The Last Mission” for an undisclosed sum. John Moore is attached to direct.
Pitch centers on an ex-Navy SEAL commander whose daughter is taken hostage in the Philippines. When the U.S. government refuses to intervene, he summons his retired SEAL colleagues from Vietnam — now all in their late 50s and 60s — to come to her aid.
Davis principal John Davis will produce with company prexy Wyck Godfrey.
Fox production exec Emma Watts brought it into the studio, and will oversee its development with production prexy Hutch Parker.
Gayton wrote the 1983 actioner “Uncommon Valor,” which followed a Vietnam commander who reunites old buddies to spring a comrade held prisoner. Courtley is former Navy SEAL. Both scribes are also at work on a SEAL-themed MOW project for TNT.
Moore directed Fox’s remake of 1965’s “Flight of the Phoenix” and 2001 Fox actioner “Behind Enemy Lines.”
