'Planet' flies away with Golden Raven

Korean helmer Jun-hwan Jang’s “Save the Green Planet” won the top Golden Raven at the Brussels Intl. Festival of Fantastic Film (BIFFF) on March 28.

In the film, an angst-ridden Byung-gu (played by Shin Ha-Kyun) becomes convinced an industrialist is an alien set on destroying the planet.

Silver Ravens were awarded to Korean Jung-ha Yeon for her performance in Jee-Woon Kim’s “A Tale of Two Sisters,” and to Japan’s Sakichi Sato for the screenplay for Takashi Miike’s “Gozu,” making it a grand slam for Asian biz.

The Pegasus audience award went to U.S. pic, Eric Bress and J. MacKye Gruber’s “Butterfly Effect”.

Jur prexy was Hong Kong’s Ronny Yu, director of last year’s “Freddy vs Jason.” Other members were French thesp Tom Novembre, Canadian thesp Alexandra Stewart and Belgian helmer Frank van Passel.
