TNT is developing an original movie based on the book “Funny Cide,” the true story of one of the most celebrated horseracing teams in history.
Granada America will produce and Jon Maas (“The Last Debate”) will adapt the book by sportswriter Sally Jenkins. Stephen Davis and Jody Brockway are exec producers.
“Funny Cide” concerns the horse’s unconventional team of blue-collar owners who surprised the racing world last year by winning both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness.
Telepic is one of several TV projects capitalizing on the success of the Oscar-nominated theatrical “Seabiscuit”: GSN is about to premiere “American Dream Derby,” a reality show set in the high-stakes world of horse racing, and ABC Family is developing the drama series “Wildfire,” about a teenage girl who works with a racehorse.
