Lions Gate Films has promoted Tim Palen to exec VP of theatrical marketing.
Promotion comes on the heels of successful campaigns for “Saw” and “Fahrenheit 9/11,” Lions Gate’s first pic to gross more than $100 million.
Palen joined Lions Gate in October 2001 and launched the campaign for “Monster’s Ball.” He has overseen marketing campaigns for pics including “Secretary,” “Cabin Fever,” “Girl With a Pearl Earring” and “The Punisher.”
He is currently handling the release campaigns for “Beyond the Sea,” written and directed by Kevin Spacey, and “A Love Song for Bobby Long,” starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johansson.
He also is working on the Oscar campaigns for those two pics and for “Fahrenheit 9/11,” which the studio is expected to push for picture and director.
