HELSINKI Local product did excellent box office figures in Finland in 2003.
Year-end figures show there were 11 local features on screens as well as three feature documentaries and three titles from 2002’s openers.
These 17 films repped 21% of all admissions. Total admissions were 7.9 million, up from 2002’s 6.6 million admissions.
B.O. smash of the year was Aleksi Makela-helmed “Bad Boys,” which totaled 614,000 admissions, outdoing “Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers” and “Matrix Reloaded.”
Second-best local film was Timo Koivusalo-helmed biopic “Sibelius” with 257,000 admissions, landing in the No. 7 position in the year-end stats.
