'Ray,' 'Sideway' up for comedy while 'Kill Bill' goes for drama

The Intl. Press Academy has announced the nominees for its ninth annual Satellite Awards, which will be given out Jan. 23 in Beverly Hills.

Drama film nominees are “Maria Full of Grace,” “Kinsey,” “Hotel Rwanda,” “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” “Vera Drake” and “The Aviator.”

Comedy/musical film contenders are “Ray,” “Merchant of Venice,” “Sideways,” “Napoleon Dynamite,” “The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”

Awards event will be held at a place to be determined.
