Hollywood union publicists have opted for an eclectic mix of major studio pics in nominations for their Maxwell Weinberg Publicists Showmanship Award.
Finalists for the kudos are the publicists who worked on Col’s “Big Fish,” Fox’s “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World,” Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” Paramount’s “School of Rock” and Universal’s “Seabiscuit.”
Kudos will be presented at the Intl. Cinematographers Guild’s 41st annual Publicists Awards luncheon Feb. 27 at the BevHilton.
Nominees for the award in the TV category are Showtime’s “Dead Like Me,” ABC’s “8 Simple Rules,” CBS’ “Joan of Arcadia,” Fox’s “The O.C.” and Fox’s “24.”
Nominees for the Les Mason Award, which recognizes individual publicists for high professional standards, are Warner’s Jeff Hare, Warner’s Mary Hunter, unit publicist Larry Kaplan, unit publicist David Link and Warner’s Maureen O’Malley.
Publicists are repped through the ICG as a result of its merger with Publicists Guild Local 818 two years ago.
