Caucus announces award nominees

Scribe noms include Blinn, Brooks, Burns, Kelley, Milch

HOLLYWOOD — The winners of the Caucus for Television Producer, Writers & Directors 2003 Honors Awards will be revealed Jan. 16 at the org’s 21st annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Actor James Woods will host the black-tie gala.

The Caucus is a professional organization that helps television producers, writers and directors protect their creative rights in negotiations with the cable and broadcast networks.

Producer nominees are Gerry Abrams, Larry David and the teams of Robert Greenblatt & David Janollari and Craig Zadan & Neil Meron.

Writer nominees are Bill Blinn, James L. Brooks, Allan Burns, David E. Kelley and David Milch. Director nominees are Robert Butler, Dan Curtis, Rod Holcomb and Jay Sandrich.

In addition to the three annual competitive awards, this year’s event will honor several key figures in the industry.

WB Network co-CEO Jordan Levin will be named executive of the year, and ABC Cable Networks Group president Anne Sweeney will receive the Chair’s Award.

The lifetime achievement award will go to producer-writer-director Lionel Chetwynd, Vin DiBona will receive the distinguished achievement nod, Daily Variety columnist Army Archerd will be given the journalism award, and Stan Lathan will receive the diversity award.

The caucus will also present the winners of this year’s student filmmaker grants during the ceremony. Since the awards program’s founding in 2001, the caucus has allocated more than $170,000 to 29 student filmmakers.
