Rhino primes three-disc boxed set for 35th-anniversary
The 1969 Sid & Marty Krofft Saturday morning kids show “H.R. Pufnstuf” is the latest TV series to be resurrected for DVD, and it’s also getting a boost from TV Land.
Rhino Home Video will introduce three-disc boxed set “H.R. Pufnstuf — The Complete Series,” including more than two hours of bonus materials, on Feb. 10, a week before TV Land debuts a four-hour programming event at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Feb. 17 called “Pufnstuf ‘n’ Stuff.”
It’s all part of a 35th-anniversary celebration of the Krofft siblings’ programming partnership that will include the addition of “Pufnstuf” episodes on TV Land in April and other Krofft programming during its “Kitschen” block, which runs every Friday and Saturday from midnight to 2 a.m. ET/PT.
Rhino and TV Land will cross-promote the TV programming and DVD release.
“Pufnstuf” was the first series created and produced by Sid and Marty Krofft; they followed it up with shows such as “The Bugaloos,” “Lidsville,” “Land of the Lost,” “The Bay City Rollers Show” and primetime series and specials including “The Brady Bunch Hour,” “The Donny & Marie Show” and “Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters.”
