More trouble for ‘Taxi 2’

Krawczyk under microscope for stunt mishap

PARIS — French helmer Gerard Krawczyk has been put under formal investigation for involuntary manslaughter for the death of a cameraman in 1999 on the set of “Taxi 2.”

Pic’s producer Luc Besson and stunt specialist Remy Julienne were put under formal investigation in 2002.

Cameraman Alain Dutartre, 41, died from injuries after being crushed by a car that missed its mark during a stunt. The accident also crushed the legs of Dutartre’s assistant.

Written and produced by Besson, “Taxi 2” was France’s box office leader for 2000, grossing $53.8 million. Pic, which is the second of three, has become one of the most successful Gallic film franchises, wowing auds with daring car chases.

Krawczyk could not be reached for comment.
