Kinepolis auds off 3.1% in ’04

Company blames figure on sold-off operations

International cinema chain Kinepolis said Friday that its plexes had 6.3 million visitors in the first three months of 2004, down 3.1% from 2003’s 6.5 million.

Exhib put a positive gloss on the dip by stressing the year-ago score included numbers from Italy’s Treviso complex and Parisian picture house Max Linder, which Kinepolis has sold.

Auds in exhib’s home market of Belgium were up 1.8%. The best-performing pics were “Podium,” “The Last Samurai” and “Brother Bear.”
