Canal Plus heats up Cuisine web

World Brief

Gallic TV group Canal Plus has acquired 66% of cooking theme channel Cuisine TV.

Canal Plus, which didn’t disclose the pricetag, picked up the web through its filial Multithematiques. Canal bought 51% from Pathe and 15% from RF2K, which now holds 35% of the web.

Now broadcast on Canal Plus’ paybox and its satcaster, Canal Satellite, Cuisine TV is expected to be part of the web’s pay offering when France launches digital terrestrial TV in 2005.

Film group Pathe is withdrawing from its television interests.
