HOLLYWOOD — Justin Timberlake has inked with Turner Network TV to serve as a sports correspondent for TNT and TBS.
The ‘NSync member will cover a variety of sports properties for the cable networks, including all things NBA — the season, playoffs and All Star Game (TNT) — NASCAR (TNT), the British Open (TNT) and PGA Championship (TNT), as well as the Big 12 and Pac-10 college football games (TBS).
“We are excited at what this unique marriage between the worlds of sports and entertainment can bring to our high-profile sports properties,” said Turner Sports executive producer Mike Pearl. “Justin’s interest and enthusiasm, not only in the NBA but in all sports, should help provide our broadcasts with a new, fresh approach.”
Timberlake already has reported to work, having recently filmed a handful of NBA playoff spots opposite Magic Johnson, comparing today’s “New School” stars with the “Old School” NBA legends of the past. The features, dubbed “The NBA Playoffs . . . Justified,” begin airing this week with the second round of the NBA playoffs, when TNT’s coverage of the Conference Semifinals becomes exclusive in home markets. TNT also will air the Western Conference Finals exclusively.
