TBS’ ‘Survivor’ isn’t a thriver in ratings war

Dispatches

TOKYO — The Japanese version of “Survivor” has not survived the fierce ratings war among local commercial networks.

Tokyo Broadcasting Systems (TBS) has yanked it from its Tuesday evening slot. It bowed a year ago but failed to score much more than 5% ratings.

Fuji TV scrapped the Japanese version of BBC-originated “The Weakest Link” last fall after just six months on air.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” on Fuji TV (7 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday) is the only imported game/reality show still going strong on Japanese webs.
