Tara Sorenson has joined National Geographic TV and Film as VP of development in its kids division.
Sorenson will report to the division’s new prexy, Donna Friedman Meir in the org’s Beverly Hills offices. (Friedman Meier joined in January. (Daily Variety, Jan 28.)
Sorenson, who comes aboard from Sony Family Entertainment, will be involved in all aspects of program development and production for the kids unit. Latter creates programming in a variety of formats, included TV series, and specials and direct to video titles.
Before joining National Geographic, Sorenson was VP of creative affairs in the Family Entertainment arm of Sony Pictures Television. There, she developed properties including “Jackie Chan Adventures,” “Men in Black” and “Dragon Tales.”
Prior to that, she held positions at Columbia TriStar Television and Nelvana Communications.
